Etu Energias has signed an agreement with Chevron to acquire its interests in Angola's offshore Blocks 14 and 14K. Under the deal, Etu will pay $260 million for a 31% working interest in Block 14 and a 15.5% interest in Block 14K. This transaction is significant not just because it transfers ownership but also because it puts Etu in a position to take control of one of Angola's longest-established deepwater producing assets.

Block 14 has produced over 900 million barrels since 1999, and with the acquisition, Etu will hold a 60% working interest. The company plans to assume operatorship of Block 14 after regulatory approval and is exploring opportunities to develop nearby reservoirs through tie-backs to existing infrastructure.

Etu will be supported by BW Energy and Chariot under a framework agreement, and the acquisition is being financed through a debt facility from Shell Western Supply and Trading. The African Energy Chamber views this transaction as a positive step towards strengthening African participation in the development and ownership of energy resources on the continent.
