EU Court Rejects Opera Challenge Over Microsoft Edge Exemption

The European Union's General Court has rejected a challenge from Opera Norway against the EU's decision to exempt Microsoft's Edge browser from certain antitrust rules. The Digital Markets Act (DMA) is designed to limit the market power of large tech companies, and Edge was deemed not to be an important gateway for businesses to reach users.

The court upheld the Commission's decision that Edge does not act as a gatekeeper in relation to its browser, despite meeting some DMA criteria. This means Opera Norway will now bear its own legal costs, as ordered by the Court.
