EU Court Rejects Opera's Bid to Regulate Microsoft Edge
Microsoft's Edge web browser has been cleared of regulation under the EU's digital gatekeeper law after Opera's arguments were rejected by the General Court. The ruling, delivered on September 2, 2026, follows findings by the European Commission that Edge has low usage and Microsoft is unable to exploit its ecosystem to boost use.
Judges confirmed Opera's right to bring its case but ultimately sided with the Commission's assessment. This decision can be appealed at the EU Court of Justice.
