Eugene Airport witnessed an emergency situation on August 5, 2026, at around 10 p.m. when a reported fire erupted in the rear stabilizer of a United Airlines Boeing 737-8.

The incident occurred while the plane was occupied by airline cleaning staff, who promptly self-evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Eugene Springfield Fire responded to the alarm and dispatched a full aircraft emergency response team, including units from city-based stations and Eugene Airport operations.

Crews inspected the aircraft using Tower 2's elevated aerial platform but found no visible signs of fire. However, they did discover a hot indicator on the systems panel.

The plane was subsequently de-energized, pushed away from the concourse, and relocated to a remote heavy pad for further inspection and maintenance.
