Europe's Solar Sector Surges as Alight Inaugurates Finland's Largest Facility

Europe's solar energy sector is thriving with several notable developments in recent times. In Finland, Alight has inaugurated the 101 MW Eurajoki Solar Park, one of the country's largest solar facilities. The project will generate around 100 GWh of renewable electricity annually and match the consumption of about 20,000 households.

Another significant development is that Anesco has secured Lombard financing for three UK projects - the 21 MW Woodwalton Solar Farm in Cambridgeshire, the 50 MW/100 MWh Rothienorman battery energy storage system (BESS) in Scotland, and the 48.5 MW Coven Solar Farm in Staffordshire.

Meanwhile, METLEN has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Coca-Cola Tria Epsilon for electricity from an approximately 12 MW solar plant in Greece. This deal is linked to parent company Coca-Cola HBC's target of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Vattenfall has also opened its 46 MW Nauen solar park near Berlin, Germany, with Wieland Group taking the full output under a 10-year PPA. The project will generate about 47 GWh of electricity annually and is expected to cover around 15% of the electricity Wieland buys for its German sites.

TEAL has launched TEAL Renovables, a new development company targeting the Spanish market. This entity will focus on early-stage development of renewable energy assets in Spain, which is seen as an attractive market due to its policy framework and growing demand for clean energy.
