Eurozone Confidence Boosts Search for Solid Balance Sheets and High ROE
The Eurozone consumer confidence has improved to its strongest level since February 2026. As a result, investors are looking for companies with solid balance sheets and high return on equity (ROE).
A screener that filters for such fundamentals highlighted three stocks: TJX Companies, Microsoft, and Century Aluminum.
TJX Companies is a global off-price retailer with a market cap of around $155.2 billion. It has a strong balance sheet and high ROE due to its fast inventory turnover and value-focused shoppers. However, it also has a rich valuation, an externally funded balance sheet, and insider selling in recent months.
Microsoft is a global technology company with a market cap of around $3.6 trillion. Its Intelligent Cloud segment supports its solid balance sheet and fundamentals story, with high margin, recurring server and cloud AI services generating over $138 billion in revenue. However, it also faces rising regulatory pressure on cloud and AI, heavy ongoing capex, and recent insider selling.
Century Aluminum produces primary aluminum and value-added products from smelters in the United States and Iceland. It has a market cap of around $4.3 billion and a strong balance sheet due to its focus on core lines and improving fundamentals. However, it also faces heavy exposure to power and raw material costs, policy risk around tariffs, and the challenge of executing large projects.
