Experts Pick Healthcare Giant, Payment Processor, and Defense Contractor as Final Trades
On CNBC's 'Halftime Report Final Trades', three investment experts shared their final picks for investors to consider. Stephen Weiss, chief investment officer and managing partner of Short Hills Capital Partners, chose UnitedHealth Group Inc (NYSE:UNH). This decision was supported by the company's recent financial results, which exceeded analyst expectations. In its second-quarter earnings report on July 16, UnitedHealth Group reported adjusted earnings of $6.38 per share, topping the consensus estimate of $4.86.
Revenues also increased to $112.03 billion from $111.62 billion in the previous year and surpassed Wall Street estimates of $110.83 billion. GAAP earnings were $6.04 per share. UnitedHealth shares closed at $401.73 on Friday, up 0.7%.
Kevin Simpson, CEO of Capital Wealth Planning, selected Visa Inc (NYSE:V) as his final trade. The company's recent quarterly earnings report showed that it beat the consensus estimate with a profit of $3.32 per share. Quarterly revenue came in at $11.63 billion, just ahead of the Street estimate of $11.39 billion. However, Visa shares fell 0.4% to settle at $364.15 during the session.
Jim Lebenthal, partner and chief market strategist at Cerity Partners, recommended Lockheed Martin Corp (NYSE:LMT). His view was supported by Citigroup analyst John Godyn, who maintained a Buy on Lockheed Martin and raised the price target from $641 to $691 in his latest report on August 13. Lockheed Martin shares rose 1.8% to close at $608.68 on Friday.
