F-15EX Takes Flight: Boeing's Fighter Jet Deploys to Japan

Boeing's F-15EX Eagle II fighter jet is set to take its place in the skies overseas, marking a significant milestone for the US Air Force. The F-15EX boasts impressive upgrades over its predecessor, including the ability to carry up to 12 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles or a maximum payload of 29,500 pounds.

This is more than double what the older F-15E Strike Eagle can handle, carrying only eight missiles. Additionally, the F-15EX features advanced avionics and a fly-by-wire control system, making it a modern fighter jet on par with the likes of the F-35 Lightning II.

The F-15EX has undergone a long development cycle, but its first model was delivered to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida back in 2021. Now, the first overseas-bound F-15EX is making its final preparations before heading to Kadena Air Force Base in Japan.

According to the US Air Force, the F-15EX represents a continued investment in Kadena and the modernization of its permanent fighter force. This move reinforces the enduring U.S.-Japan defense partnership and readiness in an evolving security environment.
