FAA Approves Smallest 737 Max Model for Commercial Flights
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted approval for the Boeing 737-7 Max, the smallest aircraft in the Max family, to operate commercially. This is a significant milestone for Boeing Co., which has been eager to sell the downsized version of its bestselling plane.
The 737-7 Max offers 135-160 seats and is designed to be fuel-efficient and quieter than previous models. To earn approval, Boeing had to perform over 1,000 hours of flight and ground testing, addressing concerns raised by the FAA about the flight-control software, crew alerting system, and engine anti-ice system.
The changes made to the aircraft provide pilots with clearer warnings and prevent potential overheating issues. The FAA will continue to monitor Boeing's manufacturing process at production facilities across the country.
