After a seven-year delay, Boeing's 737-7 has finally received certification from the FAA. The aircraft was initially set to be certified in 2019 but faced numerous setbacks due to crashes, engine flaws, and quality control reviews. To address these concerns, Boeing underwent redesigns of its LEAP-1B engines and cockpit alerts.

The FAA emphasized rigorous testing across flight controls and human factors during the certification process. The agency noted that the delays were a result of complex safety fixes being implemented to ensure passenger safety.

Southwest Airlines remains the launch customer for the 737-7, with over 300 orders placed. Despite the delay, the airline still plans to deploy the aircraft as part of its fleet modernization efforts.
