FAA Clears Boeing 737-7 for Commercial Service
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Boeing an amended type certificate for its 737-7 aircraft, clearing the way for commercial service. This certification comes after a multi-year effort that included extensive flight and ground testing, human factors reviews, and system safety assessments.
Boeing's 737 MAX family order book stands at over 7,200 airplanes, with more than 2,360 delivered through June 2026. The 737-7 offers a range of up to 3,800 nautical miles and is designed for airline customers flying out of high-altitude airports.
The certification process logged nearly 700 flight-test hours across 440 test flights and about 350 ground-test hours, along with tens of thousands of pages of documentation. The FAA's oversight was a key part of the process, said Mike Sinnett, senior vice president of Product Strategy.
