FAA Clears Boeing's 737-7 for Commercial Service
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Boeing an amended type certificate for the new 737-7 airplane, clearing it for commercial service. The certification caps a multi-year effort by Boeing that included over 1,000 hours of flight and ground testing.
According to Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, 'This important certification validates the rigor of our airplane's design and recognizes the determination and resilience of our 737 MAX development team.'
The 737-7 is the smallest and longest-range member of the 737 MAX family, offering a range of up to 3,800 nautical miles (7,040 km) and seating for 135-160 passengers in a two-class configuration.
