FAA Clears Boeing's Delayed 737 Max 7 for Commercial Flight

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified Boeing's new 737 Max 7 jetliner for commercial service after years of delays. The certification comes nearly a decade after Boeing first unveiled the plane, which is part of the company's best-selling 737 family.

Boeing faced significant challenges in getting the Max 7 approved, including addressing technical issues and heightened regulatory scrutiny following two crashes involving the larger Max 8 that killed 346 people in 2018 and 2019. The FAA required Boeing to make several safety changes before clearing the aircraft for flight.

The certification process was extensive and included years of additional testing, design changes, and a review of the plane's design and safety systems. Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said their team of engineers and test experts worked through challenges to get the Max 7 approved.
