FAA Gives Boeing 737 MAX 7 Certification After Years of Scrutiny
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted long-awaited approval to Boeing's 737 MAX 7, marking a significant milestone for the American planemaker. The certification process was tougher than usual due to two fatal MAX 8 crashes in 2018 and 2019.
Boeing faced additional scrutiny after a January 2024 mid-air cabin panel blowout on an Alaska Airlines MAX 9. Despite these challenges, the FAA has given its seal of approval to the 737 MAX 7, paving the way for sales.
The 737 MAX 7 is the smallest version of Boeing's best-selling airplane. Southwest Airlines is the first customer for this aircraft.
