FAA Orders Inspections for Boeing 787 Dreamliners Over Safety Concerns

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered inspections of certain Boeing Co. 787 Dreamliner jets after a company investigation found manufacturing errors that exceeded engineering specifications.

The FAA directive requires inspections due to potential gaps in the lower side of body splice plates common to the lower outboard wing skins, which may cause fatigue cracks to form at the fastener holes under high pull-up forces.
