FAA Orders Inspections for Some Boeing 787 Dreamliners
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered inspections of certain Boeing Co. Dreamliner jets after an internal investigation by Boeing revealed manufacturing errors that exceeded engineering specifications.
According to the FAA, the Boeing investigation found that 'shim gaps may have exceeded engineering allowances,' which could lead to fatigue cracks forming at fastener holes due to high pull-up forces on components.
