FAA Orders Inspections of 471 Boeing 737 MAX Jets Over Crack Risk
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered inspections of 471 Boeing 737 MAX jets due to a risk of cracking in the fuselage paneling around the front-door frame.
According to the FAA, cracks in this component could weaken the structure and potentially affect the aircraft's structural integrity.
Boeing has acknowledged being aware of the issue for about six years and has worked with airline customers to address it.
The company has also completed an engineering analysis of the issue and is working on design changes to prevent similar cracking in future aircraft.
