FAA Orders Inspections of Thousands of Boeing Jets Over Safety Concerns
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a notice of proposed rulemaking for an airworthiness directive regarding Boeing 737 planes. The agency is concerned about safety risks posed by incorrectly installed seats on these airplanes.
A report found that approximately 31,000 seats on Boeing 737 Model 737-8, 737-9, and 737-8200 planes were not installed correctly. This can cause the seats to disengage from their tracks during emergency situations or severe turbulence, potentially leading to injuries or blocked aisles.
The affected planes are primarily operated by United Airlines and Southwest Airlines, with a total of 1,028 airplanes included in the directive.
