Facebook Groups Emerge as Google's No. 2 Forum Source
A recent analysis by Ahrefs shows that public Facebook Groups are now the second most common site in Google's Discussions and forums module, after Reddit. This is a significant shift from January when Facebook took Quora's spot as the second-most common domain.
According to Ahrefs' data, 38.3% of search results where the Discussions and forums section appears include public Facebook Group posts. These posts can reach people who don't even use Facebook, as long as they match specific search queries.
Glen Allsopp, Head of Marketing Strategy & Research at Ahrefs, worked with data scientist Xibeijia Guan to analyze over 500 million search results from Ahrefs' database. The analysis shows that the top 10 Facebook Groups account for just 2.82% of links, while the top 100 make up 9.27%.
