The debate over whether Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI will be Xbox exclusives has intensified as players await word on where Bethesda's next major role-playing games will be available. Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media, parent company to Bethesda Game Studios, in 2021 raised questions about the future of Bethesda's biggest franchises on PlayStation.

However, with several high-profile releases, including Starfield and Redfall, debuting as Xbox Series X|S and PC titles at launch, it seems Microsoft is prepared to use Bethesda content within its ecosystem. But with recent changes in strategy, it's unclear whether every future first-party title will remain exclusive to Xbox consoles.

The Elder Scrolls VI has been in development for years, with a planned release date still undisclosed. Todd Howard, head of Bethesda Game Studios, has mentioned Fallout 5 as a long-term project following the completion of The Elder Scrolls VI.
