Fashion's Transformative Power Takes Flight in Wallpaper*'s September Style Issue
Mathieu Blazy's Chanel A/W 2026 show celebrated fashion's transformative power. Inspired by the life cycle of the caterpillar and butterfly, the collection featured models emerging from a metaphorical chrysalis with dramatic hair transformations.
The September Style Issue cover shoot for Wallpaper* aimed to capture this theme. Photographer Antoine & Charlie and fashion director Jason Hughes worked together to create a series of personae in the season's most transformative looks.
Australian model Aylah Peterson was tasked with becoming different versions of herself, helped by hair and makeup artists Chris Sweeney and Megumi Matsuno. The shoot took place at Landing Forty Two in London, where some images were treated to appear like Aylah was being caught on CCTV, while others showed her holding the camera.
The clothing chosen for the shoot featured dramatic silhouettes and sensual textures, including silk, lace, and shearling. Brands such as Gucci, Ferragamo, Dior, and Valentino were showcased in the editorial spread.
