Father Creates AI-Powered Cart Sharing Feature on Amazon
A 12-year-old's simple request led to an interesting project for his father. The boy wanted to share his Amazon cart with his friend, who didn't have a list of their middle school supplies.
However, there is no straightforward way for consumers to share their carts on Amazon, unlike businesses using Amazon Business accounts.
The father decided to build the feature himself using AI and created a website paired with a Chrome extension called CartShare.
CartShare could display products, preserve quantities, and create a link that could be sent to someone else. However, it couldn't transfer products directly from one cart to another due to Amazon's technical boundaries.
The father realized that vibe coding can make a convincing prototype appear before the underlying behavior is properly tested.
