Jon Favreau is reviving an old Disney character in his latest project. The writer-director and executive producer is working on a three-part miniseries called 'Oswald the Lucky Rabbit' for Disney+, which will premiere in February 2027.

The series combines live-action with hand-drawn 2D animation and features a star-studded cast, including Albert Brooks, Amy Sedaris, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Martin, Al Madrigal, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris, and Ryder Allen.

Oswald was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1927 for Universal Pictures. The character played a significant role in Disney's early history, as he and Iwerks went on to create Mickey Mouse after Universal took control of Oswald in 1928.

Disney reacquired the rights to Oswald in 2006, but the character entered the public domain in 2023. Favreau has previously worked with some of the cast members on other Disney projects, including 'The Mandalorian' and 'The Book of Boba Fett.'
