FCC Clears Google's Unreleased Wearable Device for Release
Google's upcoming wearable device has cleared FCC certification and is likely to be a new Pixel-branded product. The device, with model number G8BL6, features standalone GPS positioning capability and supports GNSS in addition to Bluetooth Low Energy.
The operating system is Android, which suggests that the device may not be marketed under the Fitbit brand. This speculation is based on the fact that the unreleased wearable shown next to the Pixel Watch 5 in an August advertisement was positioned as a Pixel device.
The Pixel Watch 5 has recently been launched in Japan, with prices starting at ¥62,800 (approximately $410) and up to ¥84,800 (approximately $550). The watch features improved processing performance, with the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated delivering 50% more memory and 20% faster processing speeds compared to the previous generation.
