Federal Circuit Revives Patent Dispute Between Zilkr and Cisco

Zilkr Cloud Technologies LLC has received a second chance to defend its cloud-technology patent against Cisco Systems Inc. after the Federal Circuit vacated an administrative ruling invalidating the patent.

The patent, US Patent No. 9,210,254, was initially accused by Zilkr of being infringed upon by Cisco's Webex cloud-based phone system.

In its decision, the appeals court agreed with Zilkr that the Patent Trial and Appeal Board had misinterpreted two terms from the patent, leading to a conclusion that several of its claims were obvious.
