FedEx Rolls Back the Years with Retro Boeing 777 Livery Honoring Founder Frederick Smith
FedEx Express has unveiled a Boeing 777-200F retro livery to celebrate the legacy of its founder, Frederick Smith. The aircraft, N884FD, was repainted in its former livery with a striking light purple top half and an orange cheatline separating it from the white bottom half.
The special livery is part of a wider series of celebrations marking Smith's life and work. He passed away at 80 in June 2025, and on what would have been his 82nd birthday, August 11, FedEx Express revealed the retrojet as part of its inaugural FedEx FWS Day of Service.
The event honors Smith's civic pride and philosophy of community leadership by committing to do good in the communities where team members live and work. The aircraft is named Rosie after one of Smith's granddaughters who was born shortly before his passing.
