Figment Movie Still in Works Despite Lack of Updates

Figment movie fans can still hold out hope for a film adaptation of their beloved purple dragon. In an interview, Seth Rogen commented on the status of his Figment project, which was first announced in 2022. The movie would be produced by Point Grey Pictures and written by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, who also worked on Pokémon Detective Pikachu.

Rogen hesitated to answer when asked about the current development stage of the film, saying 'Let me get back to you on that.' When pressed for more information, he replied, 'I can't tell anything,' indicating that work is still ongoing but no details are being shared. This reassures fans who may have been concerned after Disney's then-CEO Bob Iger suggested making a Figment series or short videos in 2025, seemingly ignoring the film project.

The lack of updates on the movie's status comes as Disney has continued to feature Figment in various other ways. In 2023, a Figment meet and greet was added, and the character visited Walt Disney Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering that same year. The Journey Into Imagination ride at EPCOT, which first introduced Figment in 1983 alongside his creator Dreamfinder, has undergone changes over the years but recently saw the announcement of Dreamfinder's return.
