Firefighter Rescues Five Trapped Ducklings on Home Improvement Trip

North Fayette Township Fire Department firefighter Matt Klein was on his way to Home Depot for a home improvement project when he stumbled upon five ducklings trapped in a storm drain.

The mother duck had been frantically trying to free her young ones from the bottom of the drain, and Klein immediately called for backup.

Two of the ducklings were rescued before the fire department's arrival, but three more required assistance to escape.

The last duckling was 30 feet down the drain pipe leading to another catch basin, and it took some water from an engine to flush it out.
