Firefox Stands Alone as Edge and Chrome Crack Down on Adblockers

Microsoft Edge has followed Google Chrome's lead in restricting adblockers by phasing out Manifest V2 extensions. This change affects thoroughgoing adblockers like uBlock Origin, which relied on these permissions and APIs to function.

uBlock Origin users will still be able to use the 'ublock-origin-lite' extension, but it is a pared-down version of the original.

Mozilla's Firefox browser has taken advantage of this situation by boasting that it still supports uBlock Origin. In posts across social media, Firefox declared that its support for the adblocker 'isn't going anywhere.'

While there are other browsers that also support full-fat adblockers, Firefox is one of the most prominent ones doing so.

Some users have asked when Mozilla will bring adblock support to iOS devices. Although there is no hard timeline for this, Mozilla has confirmed that it is working on making adblock work on Firefox for iThings.
