License plate reader cameras have been installed in various North Jersey communities as part of a growing trend to monitor vehicle activity. The Flock Safety camera, manufactured by Flock, is one such example that has been spotted on several streets, including Lemoine Ave in Fort Lee and Route 17 near Home Depot in Lodi.

Photographs taken by Julian Leshay Guadalupe for NorthJersey.com show the cameras mounted to poles, often with solar panels powering them. A crowd-sourced map of Flock camera locations in the United States reveals a widespread presence across many states.
