Flock's Dashcam Surveillance Plans Exposed: Uber and Lyft Drivers Unwittingly Caught Up

Rideshare and delivery drivers may have unknowingly contributed to surveillance data collection through their dashcams. Flock, a company that specializes in license plate readers, had planned to partner with Nexar, a dashcam company, to tap into the vehicles of Uber and Lyft drivers.

The partnership would have involved hundreds of thousands of vehicles, including 350k Uber/Lyft and other delivery service devices. However, Flock claims that it never executed the partnership.

Flock had also been working with law enforcement agencies, including ICE, to access security footage from Ring cameras installed at Lowe's and Home Depot stores. This revelation raises concerns about the extent of surveillance in our daily lives.
