Florence Finance Director Jason Lewis Brings Military Leadership, Corporate Expertise to City Budget

Jason Lewis, the Finance Director of the City of Florence, brings a unique blend of leadership experience and technical financial expertise to his role. After serving as a Field Artillery officer in the U.S. Army for over five years, he transitioned to the Michigan National Guard in 2019. Lewis then earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in corporate finance from the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business in 2021.

Before joining the City of Florence in 2024, Lewis worked at Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati for three years, where he managed complex budgets and financial processes involving millions of dollars. His experience included leading budgeting for manufacturing operations with over $150 million in spending and developing financial forecasting processes.

As Finance Director, Lewis is responsible for managing the city's approximately $89 million annual budget, which includes forecasting resources needed to support police, fire, public services, water and sewer operations, city administration, and major capital investments. He also guides financial discussions with the Florence City Council and develops five-year revenue forecasts.

One of Lewis' notable achievements since joining the City of Florence has been helping develop and implement a new employee pay plan for fiscal years 2026 and 2027. The plan included meaningful adjustments for entry-level first responders and public services employees, positions essential to maintaining the city's services.
