Florida Man Convicted of Orchestrating Microsoft Manager's Murder
A Florida man has been convicted of first-degree murder and solicitation of murder in connection with the killing of Jared Bridegan, a Microsoft design manager who was shot on a road in Jacksonville Beach four years ago.
The attack stumped police for months as they struggled to understand why someone with no apparent enemies would be killed while his daughter sat nearby in her car seat.
Prosecutors believe that Bridegan was killed because of ongoing strife with his former wife, Shanna Gardner, over the parenting of their twins. Gardner is married to Mario Fernandez Saldana, 38, who was convicted of orchestrating the murder.
The motive behind the killing was a stormy child custody arrangement between Bridegan and Gardner. The prosecution presented evidence that Fernandez Saldana had made preparations for the death of Bridegan months in advance.
