Florida's Summer Sizzles: Disney World Sees Second Warmest Summer Ever
This summer's temperatures at Walt Disney World in Florida were among the hottest on record. According to the National Weather Service, Orlando had its second warmest summer ever with an average temperature of 84.5 degrees Fahrenheit, a staggering 2.3 degrees above normal.
The heat was not just felt in Orlando; every location in east central Florida recorded temperatures above normal during the summer months. This included Sanford, Melbourne, Daytona Beach, Leesburg, Vero Beach, and Fort Pierce, with some areas experiencing their hottest summers on record.
The National Weather Service attributes the extreme heat to a lack of rainfall, which is normally expected in Florida's summer storms. With fewer afternoon downpours, the sun had more time to heat up, making the season feel even more oppressive.
