Foldable Frenzy: Apple's iPhone Duo Goes Head-to-Head with Xiaomi's 18 Fold
Two new foldable smartphones have caught the attention of tech experts and social media users after their simultaneous launches. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, was unveiled on September 9, while the Xiaomi 18 Fold launched in China on September 7.
The two phones share a similar design concept, featuring passport-style foldables with compact outer screens that open into larger inner displays. The iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch folding display and an outer screen measuring around 5.4 inches, while the Xiaomi 18 Fold features a 7.58-inch inner display and a similarly sized outer screen.
Pre-orders for the iPhone Duo are set to open on October 16, with sales beginning on October 23 as part of a global launch. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is currently available only in China, where pre-orders are already open and sales begin on September 10 at 10am China time.
The two phones take different approaches to photography, with the Xiaomi 18 Fold featuring a 200MP Leica triple-camera system and the iPhone Duo sporting a 48MP Dual Fusion rear camera system. Apple has also emphasized the durability of the iPhone Duo, using a Grade 5 titanium frame and Ceramic Shield 2 on the front.
