Foldable iPhone Set to Fuel Apple Growth, But Investors Watch Price Tag
Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone could significantly impact the company's growth and stock performance. Analysts expect the device, potentially priced at $2,000-$2,500, to generate over $45 billion in revenue by the end of next year.
The iPhone maker's shares have historically gained after new product launches, with a modest 'sell-the-news' reaction immediately after events before recovering over the next one to two months. According to Bank of America analyst Wamsi Mohan, Apple shares have recorded gains in the 60 days following iPhone reveal days around 17 times since the launch of the first iPhone in 2007.
The foldable iPhone is expected to cost between $2,000 and $2,500 and would likely fold open like a passport. Nabila Popal, senior research director at IDC, predicts that even with this high price tag, the Apple foldable will be highly sought after due to the company's ability to create an aura of exclusivity, luxury, and scarcity.
Investors will closely track foldable demand, pricing, and AI features, according to Mohan. He notes that Apple shares have gained 3% over the past month and 17% so far in 2026, with a 35% gain in the past year and 112% in the past five years.
