Foldable Phone Wars: Google Enters Market with Pixel 11 Pro Fold
Google has entered the foldable phone market with its Pixel 11 Pro Fold, priced at $1,899, directly competing with Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Z Fold 8. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold features an 8-inch main display, 16GB of RAM, and a 5x telephoto camera. Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in September, which could drive global foldable smartphone shipments up approximately 30% year-over-year in 2026.
Samsung Display, the largest supplier of OLED panels for Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Z Fold 8 and rumored to be a key panel supplier for Apple's foldable iPhone, is projected to see its revenue-based market share rise from 49.4% to 79.7%. The company has secured both Samsung Electronics and Apple as major customers.
The Pixel 11 series places greater emphasis on AI integration than hardware specifications. Google highlighted its 'Gemini Intelligence' feature, which combines the in-house Tensor G6 processor with the Gemini AI assistant to handle tasks through voice commands across more than 40 apps.
