Tiwari was commissioned as an officer through the Technical Entry Scheme after eight selection attempts. He pursued his passion for adventure and was drawn to the Army's opportunities for field postings.

Tiwari comes from a family with a strong military background, with his father serving in the Army Service Corps for 36 years. He completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology and an MTech in Computer Science and Information Security before leaving his corporate job. Tiwary was given the role of Senior Under Officer (SUO) at OTA Gaya during his training.
