Alexander Nouri, a former German soccer coach and manager, has traded in his whistle for a McDonald's uniform. After turning down several offers to return to the soccer industry, Nouri decided to start anew as a franchisee for the fast food chain.

Nouri's last job in soccer was as a coach for Greek team Kavala FC, which he left in 2022. He has since been approached by lower-league German teams and some in the Middle East, but declined all offers.

'The job is so demanding that it needs 100 per cent of you,' Nouri explained to The Athletic. 'If you do it with 98 percent, it's not right.'

Nouri cited the constant uncertainty and moves associated with his soccer career as a reason for leaving. He wanted to build a more stable future with his family.

As a McDonald's franchisee, Nouri has already opened three restaurants and employs 150 people. 'I just felt at this moment, this was the end of that life story (in football),' he said.
