Fortum and Google Ink 22-Year Power Deal for Finnish Nuclear Plant

Fortum and Google have entered into a strategic partnership in Finland that will see the two companies collaborate on various initiatives. A key component of this partnership is a 22-year power purchase agreement (PPA) between Fortum and Google, which will support the continued operation and planned power uprate of the Loviisa nuclear power station in Finland until 2050.

The Loviisa nuclear power plant has two Russia-designed VVER units that will benefit from this long-term agreement. The PPA is expected to provide a stable revenue stream for Fortum, enabling it to continue operating the plant efficiently and effectively.
