FPL Teams Up with Harry Chapin Food Bank for Energy-Saving Initiative
Florida Power & Light (FPL) has partnered with the Harry Chapin Food Bank and Honeywell to distribute energy-saving kits to 200 low-income households in Southwest Florida. The initiative, called FPL Saving Step, aims to help families reduce their energy consumption during the summer months.
The partnership was announced on August 17, 2026, at an event held at the STARS Complex in Fort Myers. Claudia Gonzalez, a supervisor of customer care operations at FPL, promoted the program and its benefits to community members.
According to FPL, the energy-saving kits contain information and devices that can help households reduce their energy consumption by up to 20%. The kits also include tips on how to save energy during the summer months, such as adjusting thermostat settings and using energy-efficient appliances.
