French Media Press Regulator for Action Against Google's AI Overviews

French media outlets have requested that their country's anti-trust watchdog take action against Google's AI-generated article summaries, which they claim deprive them of website traffic and revenue.

The dispute centers around Google's artificial intelligence tool, which provides users with key information from articles without requiring them to visit the original websites. French media argue that this practice reduces their online visibility and revenue streams.

This is not the first time a major tech company has faced pressure over its AI use of content. In July, Meta was ordered by the regulator to propose a payment plan and resume talks with traditional media regarding AI use of their content.
