FSSAI Cracks Down on Food Giants Over Misleading Ads

India's food safety regulator, FSSAI, has issued over 150 notices to major food and beverage companies for alleged misleading advertising, false claims, and breaches of labelling requirements.

The affected companies include Nestle India, PepsiCo, Abbott India, Red Bull India, Danone India, Monster Energy India, Hell Energy, Mondelez India, Coca-Cola India, Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Ferrero India, and Kenvue Inc., among others.

FSSAI said its recent enforcement measures have also covered manufacturers of energy drinks and alcoholic beverages. Products from several companies have been seized over alleged regulatory violations.

The regulator has also extended its scrutiny to online food retail, issuing 12 notices to e-commerce companies, including Amazon and Flipkart. One Amazon warehouse license has also been cancelled.
