FSSAI Cracks Down on Misleading Food Ads in India
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued over 150 notices to leading food brands and retail chains for misleading advertisements, false claims, and labelling non-compliance.
The regulator has targeted major brands like Nestlé, PepsiCo, Abbott India Ltd, Red Bull India, and Coca-Cola for using buzzwords such as '100% pure,' '100% natural,' or 'healthy' in their marketing campaigns.
FSSAI has also cracked down on the food-service sector, issuing more than 30 notices to major chains including KFC, McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Domino's, and Costa Coffee.
