Fuel Spill Grounds Air China Flight at JFK Amid Refuelling Chaos

An Air China Boeing 747-8 was grounded at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on August 31 after a fuel spill incident during refuelling operations.

The aircraft, registration number B-2486, was preparing to operate flight CA982 from New York to Beijing Capital International Airport when the fuel truck drove away while still connected to the plane's hose.

This caused a fuel leak and damage to the aircraft's fuel port, prompting the airport fire department to respond and wash down the affected area.

The incident highlights the potential consequences of errors during refuelling operations, which require close coordination between ground personnel, fuel-service providers, and flight crews.
