Futures Mixed as Investors Weigh Earnings Against Global Crosscurrents
U.S. stock futures are mixed ahead of Monday's trading session, as investors weigh robust corporate earnings against global crosscurrents.
The 'S&P 500 (SPX) Up or Down on August 17?' contract on the Polymarket reflects a 62% chance of a higher open.
Equity futures are pointing to a mixed start. S&P 500 futures rose 0.11%, while Nasdaq 100 futures advanced 0.34%. Dow Jones futures dipped 0.09%, and Russell 2000 futures dropped 0.01%.
The Middle East remains a major concern, with tensions between the U.S., Iran, and other countries continuing to simmer. Brent crude futures traded slightly higher at $88.53 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude traded at $81.28 a barrel.
This week will see a deluge of retail earnings, with Home Depot Inc. (NYSE:HD), Target Corp. (NYSE:TGT), TJX Companies Inc. (NYSE:TJX), and Walmart Inc. (NASDAQ:WMT) all reporting. The Federal Reserve's rate hike expectations have also fallen sharply to about 30% after in-line inflation data.
