The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that about 121,680 Galanz retro-style top-freezer refrigerators are being recalled due to a risk of electrical short-circuits and fires.

The recall covers five specific models with date codes between December 2018 and December 2020: BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, and GLR76TWEER. Owners can check their units' model numbers and date codes on the white label on the back of the fridge or verify them online at GalanzRetroFridgeRecall.expertinquiry.com.

The recalled refrigerators were sold in black, blue, red, and white and measure approximately 58 inches tall, 24 inches deep, and 21 inches wide. They were sold at Home Depot stores and on Amazon.com from January 2019 through September 2022 for between $330 and $520.

A total of 34 fires have been linked to these units, including one that resulted in a fatality. The CPSC recommends unplugging the refrigerators immediately and not using them again until a Galanz technician has completed a free in-home repair.
