Galanz Retro Fridges Recalled Over Fire Hazard
Galanz Americas is recalling over 120,000 retro-style refrigerators sold at Home Depot and Amazon after reports of fires and one death. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall on Thursday, stating that the internal electrical components in the fridges can short circuit and ignite.
The recalled fridges were available nationwide for between $330 to $520, with 34 reports of fires linked to the product. Unfortunately, a single fatality has been reported due to one of these incidents.
Consumers are advised to stop using the fridges immediately and contact Galanz for a free on-site repair by a technician. The recall affects specific model numbers, which include BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, and GLR76TWEER.
Galanz can be reached at 888-462-0579 or customerservice@galanzamericas.com for any questions or concerns. The company will provide a free repair to ensure the fridges are safe for use.
