Galanz Retro Refrigerator Recall Affects Over 121,000 Units
Galanz Americas Limited Company has issued a voluntary recall of over 121,680 retro refrigerators sold in the US after they were linked to more than 30 reported fires and one fatality. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on Thursday due to ignition concerns with the internal electrical components of the fridges.
The recalled refrigerators have a 7.6-cubic-foot capacity, measure about 58 inches high, 24 inches deep, and 21 inches wide, and feature three adjustable glass shelves and one drawer. They were sold on Amazon and at various Home Depot stores nationwide for between $330 and $520.
The affected refrigerators include the model numbers BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, and GLR76TWEER, with date codes ranging from December 2018 through December 2020. Galanz Americas said customers with recalled refrigerators should register for the recall online to receive a repair kit or schedule an in-home repair by a qualified technician.
