The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall of Galanz Retro Refrigerators due to fire and burn hazards. The internal electrical components can short circuit and ignite, causing fires in 34 reported cases, including one fatality. The affected products were manufactured by Zhongshan Galanz in China and imported by Home Depot of Georgia and Galanz Americans Limited Company of New Jersey.

The recalled refrigerators are sold in black, blue, red, and white colors and measure approximately 58 inches high, 24 inches deep, and 21 inches wide. They have a capacity of 7.6 cubic feet and come with a top freezer and adjustable shelves. The model numbers affected by the recall include BCD-215V-62H, GLR76TRDER, GLR76TBKER, GLR76TBEER, and GLR76TWEER.

A total of 121,680 refrigerators were sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and through Amazon from January 2019 to September 2022 for between $330.00 and $520.00. If you own one of these refrigerators, it is recommended that you unplug it and stop using it immediately.
